Landscape

It had been raining for two days. The fields were flooded with rain water. Sky was overcast. Dark clouds hung over the buildings in the distance. At some places, green grass could be seen over the water.

Location

I shot the photo in Vasai, 53 km from Bandra. The new residential buildings had open spaces in front which were water logged.

Technical Info

I used my Sony C 5502 camera. It has a minimum ISO rating of 40. Shutter speed was 1/200 sec. Aperture was f/2.4. You could see the photo on my Flickr page.

The sun was low on the sky. Sunlight filtered through the dark clouds. Rains would come down at any time. The sky and light sent reflections from the boggy land. I aimed to capture the scene although the light was harsh and I was pointing the camera at the bright sky.

Location

I shot the photo at the wetlands near Vasai. The area was flooded due to incessant rains over the past many days.

Camera Data

The camera is Canon PowerShot S110. Aperture was f/8.0 to get a good depth of field. Shutter speed was 1/640 sec. ISO  was at 80. You can see the image on Flickr.

It was early morning on a March day last year. The beach was almost deserted. The sky was blue, the sands were white and the sea was calm. There was a glow in the sky.

Location

Neerkkadavu Beach is on the Malabar Coast in Kerala. It is near Azhikkal, about 15 km from Kannur railway station. The beach is not a tourist destination. There are mainly fishermen living in the area. It is a long beach and has lovely soft sands. You can view it on my Flickr page.

Technical Info

The camera is Canon EOS 550D. Aperture was f/5.6 at a focal length of 18mm. Shutter speed was 1/400 sec. I used an Evaluative metering mode.

The black road and the beautiful sky make perfect contrasts. The road draws the eye to the sky and lends depth to the image. The clouds caught the orange colours of the setting sun. 

Location

The shot was made when the monsoon rains were setting in. That helped to create a dramatic sky with great highlights among the clouds. I shot it on one of the small roads leading out of Vasai.

Technical Info

I used my Canon PowerShot S110 for the shot. I used an aperture of f/8 for good depth of field. Shutter speed was 1/125 sec. Focal length was 8 mm at ISO speed of 320.

“Now the day is over, evening drawing nigh, shadows of the evening creep across the sky.” The quote was posted on my Flickr page by my friend Howard Kendall. I captured the image at around 10:30 pm and it was a full moon night. I had to use a long exposure as light was understandably low. Since I was not carrying my tripod, I placed the camera on a balcony railing for support.

Location

As the name suggests, the moon had risen over Kannur town. Lights had begun to dim in many houses. But some lights could be still seen. It helped that the sky did not have many clouds. A star can be seen above the moon.

Camera Info

I set the camera for an exposure of 15 seconds at f/2. Focal length was 5.2mm at ISO 80. The shot was captured in RAW format.
