Blooming Tulip Gardens

It was a fabulous display of brilliant grounds. Beautiful tulips bloomed everywhere. The many colours were dazzling. Sun was shining and cast long shadows over the garden. It was a fantastic scene.

Location

This is Keukenhof gardens in Southern Holland. It is spread over 32 hectares and has 800 varieties of tulips. You can travel to Keukenhof by bus from Amsterdam Centraal or Schiphol Plaza. The gardens are open only for a few weeks in spring each year.

Technical Info

I have used my Canon EOS 550D DSLR camera. Aperture was f/7.1 and the exposure time 1/200 sec. The lens was Canon EF-S18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS. It was kept at its widest focal length of 18 mm. Exposure mode was Manual.

Crocus ‘Flower Record’

The weather was mostly sunny. It was a great time to walk through fields full of gorgeous tulips in different colours. This one caught the eye because of its colours. I chose to go close to the flowers for the shot.

Location

The tulips were in Keukenhof, Holland. It is one of world’s largest flower gardens. It is located in Lisse, Southern Holland and can be reached by a 40 minute bus ride from Amsterdam Centraal.

Camera Data

I used my Canon EOS 550D DSLR camera for the shot. Focal lengrh was 53 mm. Exposure time was 1/20 sec., hand-held. No flash was fired. The lens was Canon EF-S18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS.

The colour of the water was beautiful when I came across the scene on an evening last month. The sky was cloudless and blue. I composed the shot with the trees in the far background.

Location
Gas is a small village in Maharashtra. It has a completely rural atmosphere although it is not far away from Mumbai.
Technical Data
I used my Sony Xperia ZR smartphone. Aperture was f/2.4 at an exoosure time of 1/500sec. ISO speed was 40. Focal length was 4.1mm.

Location

The photo is captured in Gas village in Maharashtra. It is not very far from Mumbai. It is a peaceful place. It could easily mistaken for a location in Kerala because of the greenery and coconut trees.

Technical Data

Aperture is f/7.1 at a focal length of 36mm. Exposure was 1/60sec. The camera used was Canon EOS 550D digital SLR. Metering mode was multi-segment.

Red Car on Kalamb Beach

A red car, a Maruti Suzuki Swift, had driven on to the beach and was parked facing the sea. The sky had taken on a pink colour. The tyre marks were visible on the wet sand.  I composed the shot with the car on the bottom left side of the frame. It perhaps looks like a shot from a TV commercial.

Location

This is one more shot from Kalamb Beach. I was not there on a weekend. The place was not crowded with revellers. So I was able to keep people out of the image.

Technical Data

The depth of field is shallow because I used an aperture of f/1.8. I focused on the car. The  sea and sky in the background have a soft look. Exposure time was 1/1250 sec. The lens was Canon 50mm f/1.8.
