Paris attractions play their part in making Paris famous. Paris is an elegant city with historic buildings, vast museums, refined fashion and French gastronomy.
Notre Dame Cathedral
Notre Dame Cathedral is world famous for its historic past and impressive architecture. The Hunchback of Notre-Dame, Victor Hugo’s well-known novel, was published in 1831. The story of the novel centres on the cathedral. It is open daily, from 8:00 am to 6:45 pm. There is an entry fee for the Cathedral Tower which has 400 steps.
A huge fire broke out on 15 April 2019, destroying the Gothic cathedral’s medieval roof, toppling its spire and nearly bringing down the main bell towers. A massive operation to restore the cathedral to its original state is ongoing. The work is likely to finish before the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
