Save Money While You Travel. If you are able to save money on your travels, you may be able to continue for a few more days and see more places. Here are my eight recommendations on saving money while you travel.
1. Air Tickets – Save Money While You Travel
Air tickets are costly and usually take up a significant part of your budget. The tickets should be purchased upto two months in advance. When you near the travel dates, prices tend to go up. Besides, weekend prices are usually higher. Other factors to consider are the timing and duration of flights and length of layover if any.
2. Hotels
Choose hotels which offer free breakfast and wi-fi. Free breakfast saves you time and money. Moreover wi-fi is a haven for making your free WhatsApp calls and messages to your family and friends. Cost and location are important considerations in picking your hotel. Your hotel rooms can be booked online without making advance payments.
3. Public Transport
Several European cities have efficient metro systems. Paris, London, Rome, Prague, Stockholm, Vienna, Budapest and Sofia are some of the cities with metro lines. This enables you to bypass traffic jams. Many towns have tram and bus services. Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, Bengaluru, Chennai and Kochi have metro systems in India. Taxis can be very expensive.
4. Food
Keep in mind that the breakfast you get at your hotel may or may not be enough to keep you going. Some hotel breakfasts can be light by your standards. In restaurants that serve both lunch and dinner, you may want to eat your largest meal of the day at lunch when prices tend to be lower. You can save even more if you shop at the supermarkets for picnic-style lunches.
5. Travel in Off-Season
Travel in peak season is almost always a costly affair. Hotels, air fare and food will cost more. If you decide to travel just before or after the peak season, you will be able to get sizeable savings. The crowds will be less too.
6. Inter-City Travel
Train travel between cities and towns has many benefits. City centre to city centre, no need to reach far-flung airports, no airport taxes, no baggage fees, and infants go free. It’s just a matter of booking in advance on the right website. Without a trace of doubt, the ideal way to see India is not on a plane at 30,000 feet, but at ground level on the extraordinary Indian railway system.
7. Avoid Expensive Countries : save money while you travel
Switzerland is a beautiful country. But it is crazily expensive. If you are on a budget, you may not wish to have a long stay there. Similarly, certain cities like Singapore, Zurich, Tokyo, Paris, New York or Copenhagen can weigh on your budget.
8. Choose Your Sights
Do some research on the internet and select the sights that you wish to see. This will aid in preparing your schedule of visits and save money while you travel.
